THE BURLING FAMILY HISTORY

ROBERT JAMES BURLING

First child of Wilfred.

Robert James attended Boomi Public School, then Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School and Sydney University. Since leaving university he has followed several occupations and is now a computer programmer/teacher (involvement since 1967) living in Inverell. He achieved a Bachelor Computer Science Degree (with Honours), through the accrediation of his industry training, in 2001.

He has been a very keen worker for young people, working with his church and various sporting bodies, coaching a number of hockey teams and has represented New England in Veterans Hockey.

He has been involved with Emergency Radio since 1977 being honoured with Life Membership of CREST in 1980 and being recognised as a trainer of emergency radio operators by the Emergency Services.

He has established a recognised course for people involved with Community Group leadership, putting into practice his training and experience in this area gained since 1966.

Since 1995 he has been involved with teaching computing subjects at TAFE, as well a number of other organisations, including schools.

For most of his life, Bob has had a passionate interest in music, playing many instruments, singing and writing a large number of songs (many of these as parts of complete works) across a large range of genre. Much of his music can be found in his music website at Sapphire City Independent Music

He is not married.
