Walter Arthur married Gertrude May Carpenter on 21 Jun, 1911. Walter was born in Tenterfield and Gertrude was born 16 Jun, 1890. They had two children:

Phyllis: born 9 Mar, 1912, married Charles Robert Humphrey; and
Valda: born 1919, married Lorraine Francis Lee.
