First child of WILLIAM and MARGARET.
William, or Bill as he was known, married Ivy Olive Elizabeth Cleal on 12 Dec, 1922 at Warialda and they had two children:
At the age of 18 he enlisted in the A.I.F. as a member of the 33rd Battalion. He served in France for three years where he was severely gassed, being the only survivor of a dug out. He was invalided home and was discharged as a T.P.I.. In recognition of his services in the army he was honoured by being elected a life member of the R.S.L. in N.S.W..
For many years he held the Warialda/Gunyerwarildi/ Coolatai mail contract and on relinquishing this became caretaker of the Memorial Hall and Librarian. He, like his father, was kindly, dependable, home loving and loved his church. He was ordained an elder of the Presbyterian Church and his wife and daughter both taught Sunday School and Joan also played the organ for services. He retired in 1955 and the family moved to Inverell and he was inducted as session clerk there, a position he also held in Warialda. He died 16 Sep, 1969 at Inverell District Hospital after a long illness.
Ivy was born at Warialda 1 Mar, 1903 and is now living at Batemans Bay with her daughter, Joan.
